The best short film is awarded the Rising Star award and invited to be screened in the Best of the Best on Saturday 19th November at 10am at The Poly Falmouth during the Film Festival The Mule Runner Dylan Power, Josh Levens A teenage boy is a Mule (a person who transports drugs from one area to another) and how we follow his journey to get to a drop off point. The problem of the story happens when he is diverted from the planned route because of complications, so now he must travel between the neighborhood houses not to get spotted by the police and must make it to the drop off point. No Place Like Home Jessica James A poetic/observational documentary about people's feelings towards the contrast between urban and rural locations and how and why people might have preferences for one type of location. Whisper Woods Kaiya Bird A simple story of about a group of characters who become friends in the woods. All these characters are fictional, they are mythical Tim Burton styled like animals and monsters. Greuneval Isaac Prior This film tells the story of the conflict between the titular Greunaval and his pursuer Ankow. The character of Greunaval is inspired by the hindu asura/demon Raktabija whose drop of blood reaching the floor would create a clone. New Wave Jury Programme This opportunity helpes those aged 18-25 to develop their interest in film criticism. Join the New Wave Jury 2025 OPEN ! Are you 18-25 ? Do you love cinema? Are you South West Based? This is for you! You will have the opportunity to critically judge and select award-winning short films, have meetings with industry-relevant professionals and write about film for our New Wave Journal. This year's deadline is the Monday 6th October 5 pm Notification Tuesday, 14th October Apply here This program inspires film enthusiasts by guiding participants through workshop sessions. It concludes with jury sessions, where participants watch and judge the festival's International Shorts to select a winner. Afterwards, they contribute by writing a review of a festival film for our New Wave Journal. She suffers in silence as she battles with the government's hostile environment tactics, as she keeps the threat of deportation a secret, her psychological state begins to deteriorate as she grapples with the fear of losing her son and the country, she calls home. Philip was let go from his job five months ago due to a recession that led to his company's closing. While he has used the time to seek employment, it's been all dead ends and rejections. To make matters worse, he has yet to tell his stay-at-home wife about his termination. With no job on the horizon, and nowhere to go during working hours, he returns to his old office building to remind him of his former self. At a breaking point, he commandeers the vacant manager's office, and his world starts to open up with new opportunities as he finds himself among others that are also experiencing financial and employment hardship.
